June 4, 2025 (M-Brain Nordic News) –
Finnish wood products company Koskisen and retail company Kesko have successfully piloted the use of disused wooden packaging as a raw material for chipboard at the Koskisen Järvelä chipboard factory in spring 2025. The use of disused wooden packaging, such as pallets and plastic pipe frames, generated in the central warehouse of the building technology wholesaler Onninen, which is part of Kesko, has been successfully piloted as a raw material for chipboard at the Koskisen Järvelä chipboard factory in spring 2025. This is a breakthrough in wood packaging recycling in Finland. Until now, there has been no industrial-scale recycling solution for wood waste in Finland, despite the fact that construction and demolition waste is Finland's second largest waste type. In 2022, 248,000 tonnes of wood waste were generated in Finland in the construction sector alone.
