SANTA CATARINA, Brazil , June 6, 2022 (press release) –
Last week, Klabin participated in the celebration of the 28th Expression of Ecology Award, where it received the 'Green Wave' trophy for the initiative "Water production, conservation and monitoring in forest mosaic management", held in the municipality of Ponte Alta, in Santa Catarina. The award took place during the Sustainable Management Forum, held in Florianópolis, and was attended by representatives of environmental agencies and organizations in the state.
At the time, the Company was represented by Mireli Pitz Floriani, Klabin's Sustainability Consultant, and Mariane Bueno de Camargo, Klabin's Forestry Researcher, who received the trophy from Daniel Vinicius Netto, president of the Santa Catarina Environment Institute (IMA).
The winning initiative allows to maintain experimental microbasins, located in areas of reforestation of pine and eucalyptus and native forest, generating information on the hydrological functioning of sustainable management of forest plantations. In Santa Catarina, Klabin, which is recognized worldwide for its commitment to the preservation of fauna and flora and is a pioneer in the adoption of mosaic planting in Brazil, maintains three manufacturing units, in addition to the forest operation.
