Jujo Thermal, in partnership with its distribution partner TPL, will exhibit at Fachpack from 24 - 26 September 2024. The innovative and fully recyclable SHIELDPLUS® barrier paper range will be shown, emphasizing its potential for flexible packaging applications. Together, Jujo Thermal and TPL are committed to support sustainable packaging solutions developments.

SHIELDPLUS® barrier paper provides a recyclable fibre-based alternative for packages where presently barrier films made from plastic or aluminium are used. SHIELDPLUS® consists of wood-based fibres coated with a water-based barrier coating, and it is designed for direct contact with dry, moist and fatty food. This innovative material delivers an optimal balance between low weight and high barrier performance, providing excellent protection against gas, solvent, and mineral oils.

Visitors to our stand in Hall 3, Stand 3A-317, will have the opportunity to explore not only the latest innovations in the SHIELDPLUS® range but also a variety of samples from our collaborative projects.

Featured samples include pouches printed using HP Indigo 25K Digital Presses, produced in collaboration with digital printing leader HP Indigo. These pouches are made from unbleached SHIELDPLUS® BR 60 and SHIELDPLUS® Graphic 65 grades.  Recyclable SHIELDPLUS® Graphic 65 grade is a white barrier paper that delivers optimal printing performance. SHIELDPLUS® BR 60 is a brown grade that is both recyclable and biodegradable.

The use of barrier paper as a flexible packaging material is still relatively new to many printers and packagers and thus new expertise across the value chain is needed. This is whereJujo Thermal and TPL can provide valuable assistance.

“Until unified standards are established in the EU regarding recyclability and the concept of paper, TPL's strong expertise in country and industry-specific standards enhances our ability to ease the workload of brand owners and support them in developing sustainable alternatives for flexible packaging. The packaging industry must work collaboratively, not only to manufacture recyclable flexible packages cost-effectively but also to ensure stable process performance from printing to packaging and to design for recyclability,” says Jens Remmer, VP Marketing & Sales at Jujo Thermal.
