February 21, 2025 (press release) –
NEW YORK, February 21, 2025 – Hearst Magazines today announced that Stellene Volandes has expanded her editorial oversight of the U.S. edition of ELLE DECOR to include brand strategy. In her new role as editorial and brand director, she will lead the content and brand strategy across ELLE DECOR’s print and digital platforms. Volandes, who has been editorial director of ELLE DECOR since 2020, is also the editor-in-chief of Town & Country, a role she has held since 2016. The announcement was made by Hearst Magazines President Debi Chirichella and General Manager of the Fashion & Luxury Group Alicianne Rand.
“Stellene is an incredibly talented editor, and she has a deep understanding of the roles that fashion, luxury and design play in the lives of her audience,” Chirichella said. “She approaches her work with passion, intellectual curiosity and joy – helping to inform and drive the conversation everywhere people are talking about culture, art, design and style.”
During her time at the helm of the two brands, Volandes has produced industry-leading editorial content, created successful client partnerships and initiatives, and attracted robust audiences across shelter and style. Under her leadership, both ELLE DECOR and Town & Country have experienced growth across e-commerce, memberships and audience engagement.
“I could not be more excited about this next chapter of ELLE DECOR,” Volandes said. “Design is a powerful force in all aspects of our lives and the ELLE DECOR team has their eyes laser focused on how it shapes how we live, how we feel, how we travel, how we dress. I look forward to working with the exceptional editorial and business teams and our clients to make sure ELLE DECOR continues to be at the center of that conversation.”
Volandes recently named Benjamin Reynaert as market director of ELLE DECOR. She will soon appoint a head of editorial content who will work in close collaboration with her on all facets of content creation for the brand.
Volandes first joined Town & Country in 2011 as jewelry and accessories director and was named style director in 2012. Previously, she had been style editor of Departures from 2007 to 2011, having held increasingly senior roles there since 2003. She began her editorial career at Vogue.
She is graduate of Vassar College, with a Master’s degree in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University.
