KALISPELL, Montana , January 11, 2022 (press release) –

Brian Hobday was recently appointed to a new position as Area Manager, Montana Timberlands for Green Diamond Resource Company, according to Neal Ewald, senior vice president and chief operating officer. The company opened offices in Libby and Kalispell, Mt., on January 1, 2022, to support its timberland operations in Northwestern Montana.

Hobday comes to Green Diamond with deep experience on the lands in Sanders, Lincoln and Flathead counties now owned by Green Diamond. A 20-year veteran of the industry, he has worked for 14 years in the region.

“We are pleased to engage Brian’s extensive knowledge of local markets and forest ecology,” said Ewald. “His experience here in Montana will be critical in managing these working forests to ensure long-term health and productivity.”

Hobday will manage a small staff and will handle all operational aspects of the business in the region, reporting to Ewald.

Hobday holds a Bachelor of Science degree in forest products and minors in forest resources and fire ecology, all from the University of Idaho. He is a board member for the Montana Wood Products Association as well as the Intermountain Logging Conference and serves as treasurer and executive board member for the Montana/Idaho Airshed Group. He is past chapter chair of the Society of American Foresters and an Accredited Logging Professional with the Montana Logging Association. He holds Montana certification as a firefighter and has served as a volunteer with the Libby Fire Department since 2016.
