May 30, 2025 (press release) –
Eleven years ago, a vision took root: to heal the land and cultivate goodness. Started in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, the herbal tea company, Flor de la Paz embarked on a journey of regenerative agriculture, reviving depleted soils using organic, sustainable methods that support both nature and people. And since 2014, they have worked with Walmart in support of their commitment to well-being through their line of herbal teas and sustainable agriculture.
What makes their herbal teas so special? They focus solely on the flower — no roots, no stems — ensuring high quality and potent benefits. This isn't just about flavor; it's about harnessing the power of nature. By carefully nurturing their plants and harvesting at optimal times, teas like their chamomile achieve an impressive 1.4% concentration of essential oils, nearly double the 0.8 percent typically found in common teas. This level of dedication creates a product that delivers exceptional taste, potential wellness benefits, and a regenerative impact that begins in the soil and ends in the cup.
“We believe that every cup should tell the story of where it came from — the soil, the sun, the hands that nurtured it,” said Andrea Levy, head of retail and innovation for Flor de la Paz. “That high essential oil concentration doesn’t just sound good — you can feel it in the flavor, and in the benefits that stay with you.”
Flor de la Paz began working with Walmart through the “Pequeño Productor” program, which seeks to increase the income of producers helping to strengthen local economies. They strengthened their relationship with us through Mexico Growth Summit 2023, where they connected with a new buyer and expanded their product catalog. Today, their offerings reach even more customers through Walmart Supercenter, Walmart Express and Sam’s Club locations across Mexico — a testament to how strategic collaboration can drive business growth.
Moreover, they are fostering a thriving community. By providing stable employment to both women and men in the fields and processing facilities, they are empowering individuals and families. In the local community of El Manzano — home to 382 people and 52 families — their support reaches beyond employment. They contributed to the development of a community center and help sustain a local secondary school, equip medical labs, provide healthy meals and sponsor sports programs that bring young people together. As more women join the agricultural workforce and families gain access to dual incomes, the region is evolving — not just economically, but socially and environmentally.
“Our collaboration with Flor de la Paz — which began through the Pequeño Productor program and deepened during Mexico Growth Summit 2023 — is a powerful example of how shared values and strategic support can spark meaningful transformation,” said Juan Luis Valle Barrera, category manager of Walmart Mexico y Centroamerica. “What started as a local partnership has grown, bringing high-quality, locally produced goods to more customers across Mexico. It’s truly inspiring to witness how economic opportunity can drive lasting social and environmental progress.”
All profits from product sales go directly to the development and growth of Fundación Flor de la Paz IAP. The foundation operates under a blended finance model, combining revenue from a viable business with strategic donations. This approach allows them to generate employment and invest consistently in education, health and regenerative farming in rural and underserved areas, without depending solely on philanthropic giving.
Today, Flor de la Paz stands as a 100% organic and proudly Mexican sustainable agricultural model that creates dignified employment.
This Walmart supplier isn't just growing plants; they're cultivating opportunity, health and a brighter future for their community and the planet. Their story is a testament to the power of conscious agriculture and a reminder that truly good things bloom when care and intention are sown into every step.
We are passionate about small businesses and are striving for a more sustainable supplier journey across our markets through our Growth Summits, sourcing programs, supplier development and local market programs. We’re not just supporting business — we’re helping economic growth that strengthens communities.
