The value of
Finland's
forest industry exports amounted to about
EUR 12bn
in 2024, which was 17% of the country's goods exports, according to figures from the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). The real value of exports remained nearly unchanged, but sawn timber and paperboard exports in particular strengthened. Pulp and paper industry products accounted for 74% of the value of exports, wood products for 25%, and roundwood and by-product wood for 1%. Paperboard was the most valuable product group in exports, accounting for 27% of the total value of exports. The real export value of pulp weakened by 5%, while that of paper decreased by 1%. However, the export value of paperboard increased by 5% to
EUR 3.3bn
. Tiina Mäkipää, senior statistician at Luke, said that the increased exports of paperboard kept the pulp and paper industry's export earnings at
EUR 8.9bn
.
