Automated cooking machinery for the foodservice industry was a key theme displayed at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas Jan. 9-12, according to Brian Choi, Managing Partner and CEO of The Food Institute.
Several companies at CES "showcased machinery that can not only make restaurant quality meals and beverages in a few minutes, (but) they also self-clean," Choi said in a recent LinkedIn post.
Choi listed several reasons as to why company executives spoke favorably about automated cooking machinery, including: Labor cost savings; lack of skilled labor; convenience for consumers; late-night dining revenue opportunities, food waste reduction; and 24-7 operability.
"These machines are already in use by foodservice operators in international and domestic markets at restaurants, airports, colleges and universities, and hospitals," Choi said. "It’s great to see automation create efficiencies for operators while also providing new revenue opportunities!"
