The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), along with several ELC brands, presented new research and clinical results at 2 leading dermatology congresses in Asia, the 19th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Dermatologist Association (CDA) and the 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology (JSID). The data, showcased through poster sessions, booth engagement, and sponsored symposia, exemplified the breadth and depth of expertise across ELC’s Research and Development (R&D) function. Alongside ELC’s scientists, esteemed dermatologists from China and Japan were invited as distinguished speakers at the symposia, where together they presented the latest advancements in dermatology science.

“We are thrilled to see the remarkable presence of our company at these scientifically rigorous and important dermatology conferences in Asia,” remarked Jane Anders, Senior Vice President, Asia Innovation, R&D, Product Development, and Packaging Development. “Our team of exceptional scientists is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of skin science through cutting-edge and innovative research, fostered by interdisciplinary collaborations. In partnership with our brands, our R&D teams are committed to delivering highly efficacious products with beautiful, tailored aesthetics and compelling storytelling to our consumers across the Asia region.”

Chinese Dermatologist Association (CDA) Annual Meeting

Held in November, the 19th Annual Meeting of the CDA took place in Wuhan, China. As a champion for enhanced dermatological health care, the CDA stands as the most influential dermatology association within China and is one of the most well-attended national dermatology conferences.

In a sponsored symposium, Clinique presented the brand’s innovative dermatological solutions. Scientists from Clinique Laboratories shared findings on the management of hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone using a multi-pronged approach including a tyrosinase inhibitor, UP-302. Additionally, the brand proudly introduced its latest Medical Device II franchise for post-procedure skin, a first for ELC, that was launched in China in December 2024. Clinique also hosted an engaging booth experience, featuring its clinically proven skin care and makeup solutions, as well as the innovative medical device II offerings.

Clinique’s symposium included presentations from:

  • Dr. Leihong Xiang, MD, Chief Physician, Huashan Hospital Fudan University

  • Dr. Huanjun Zhou, PhD, Fellow, Advanced Technology Pioneering, ELC

La Mer convened a symposium to unveil groundbreaking insights into its Miracle Broth™, showcasing its benefits proven by in vitro, in vivo, and clinical research. Experts from La Mer’s Max Huber Research Labs identified and explored how specific molecules can help regulate skin homeostasis and enhance healthy hydration. Clinical studies have confirmed the anti-irritation properties and enhanced skin barrier function of a treatment infused with Concentrated Miracle Broth™, which is particularly effective after post-dermal procedures and at providing soothing benefits for sensitive skin.

La Mer’s symposium included presentations from:

  • Dr. Hong Jia, MD, Chief Physician, Hospital of Skin Disease, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences

  • Dr. Binwei Deng, PhD, Fellow, Advanced Technology Pioneering, ELC

  • Xiaomin Zhao, Associate Fellow, Clinical & Claims, ELC

  • Dr. Wei Zhang, MD, Chief Physician, Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital

In addition to the brand-led sponsored symposia, ELC scientists presented 22 posters, including a new study exploring the skin tones of more than 2 million Chinese women, showcasing the scientific precision ELC brings to the China market.

Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology (JSID) Annual Meeting

Held in Nagoya, Japan in December, the JSID is the leading academic dermatological congress in Japan and one of the most influential conferences in Asia. ELC has participated at JSID since 2017, presenting findings from the most cutting-edge scientific fields each year.

Estée Lauder presented research on the importance of night for skin recovery in a brand-sponsored symposium. ELC scientists shared the importance of skin cell synchronization with natural circadian rhythm for optimizing the efficiency of repair, recovery, and protection in different skin cell types. They also presented ELC internal research demonstrating how precise timing of skin cell functions and synchronization are critical to keep skin looking healthy and youthful.

Estée Lauder’s symposium included presentations from:

  • Dr. Yung Hou Wong, PhD, Dean of Science, Chair Professor, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

  • Dr. Jian Cao, PhD, Vice President, Advanced Technology Pioneering, ELC

During Clinique’s brand-sponsored symposium, researchers presented new discoveries and treatment technologies for the control of skin hyperpigmentation. Scientists from Clinique Laboratories shared molecular and cellular mechanisms of hyperpigmentation and treatment strategies. Additionally, an exploratory study of novel pigment-related genes based on Japanese skin type genome-wide analysis was introduced. A summary of the study of the tyrosinase inhibitor, UP-302, was also introduced, focused on providing a solution for managing hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Clinique’s symposium included presentations from:

  • Dr. Kenshi Yamasaki, MD, PhD, Professor (Dermatology), Tohoku University, School of Medicine

  • Dr. Moyuka Irimada, MD, PhD, Tohoku University

  • Dr. Tom Mammone, PhD, Vice President, Skin Physiology, Bioscience, ELC

Scientists from both ELC’s Asia and Global teams presented 15 posters, across corporate and brand research, including Dr Jart+, Estée Lauder, Clinique, and La Mer, further reinforcing the company’s scientific credentials across the Asia region.

Around the world, ELC is dedicated to cutting-edge science with multidisciplinary expertise ranging from basic science and advanced technologies to the intersections of physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering.
