June 5, 2025 (Packaging News) –

The OPRL is to host a session on Influencing consumer behaviour and minimising confusion, at the Environmental Packaging Summit.

Taking place 24-25 June 2025 at the KIA Oval, London , the OPRL session will take place on Day 2, and discuss strategies on how to encourage consumers to adopt practices, such as using reusable packaging.

This remains a significant hurdle due to ingrained habits and convenience preferences, but often, inconsistent recycling guidelines and unclear labelling lead to improper disposal, contaminating recycling streams and reducing overall recycling efficiency.

Panellists include Alice Harlock (OPRL), Eilidh O’Connor ( Vegware ), Katie Lynch ( Itsu Grocery ), and Gavin Ellis (Hubbub).

Another important session that day is ‘Circularity in PET Food Packaging – Beyond the Bottle’: Clover Walton , CSR, sustainability & external affairs, Faerch, will discuss options to drive circularity and how PET is an example of packaging circularity in action.

One more major session on Day 2 is a panel titled “Navigating Supply Chain Complexity”.

Implementing sustainable packaging solutions necessitates coordination across the supply chain, which can be complex and time-consuming.

The session will discuss how to take verifiable steps to cut carbon footprint, driving efficiencies and avoiding minimising disruptions, addressal of issues which supply chains face internationally.

It will also cover what role the packaging manufacturers and packaging designers can play in helping to solve the problems as it is ultimately their product which the courier will have to move.

Moderated by journalist Phil Chadwick , panellists include Tim Barbary ( Benchmark Consulting ), Liam Bland ( Castle Industrial ), and Iain Walker ( GS1 UK ).
