The collaboration will promote traceability, the correct management of packaging waste and the active participation of waste managers in the ENVALORA system.
ENVALORA, the Extended Producer Responsibility Collective System (SCRAP) authorized for industrial and commercial packaging, and ASEGRE, the association representing industrial and hazardous waste managers in Spain, have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two entities, promoting more efficient waste management and advancing in the implementation of a circular economy model.
Through this agreement, ASEGRE will participate in the working groups, commissions and other key activities of ENVALORA's operational development, contributing its technical knowledge and experience in waste management. The collaboration will focus especially on improving selective collection, the correct management of packaging waste, the recovery of the resulting materials, and compliance with Royal Decree 1055/2022.
"This agreement represents an important step towards a more coordinated and efficient management of commercial and industrial packaging waste. We want the managers to be fully informed and integrated in the evolution of our models", said Joan Ros, ENVALORA's general manager.
For his part, Luis Palomino, secretary general of ASEGRE, stressed the importance of "the waste producers perceiving us as a strategic partner which strengthens their industrial competitiveness. The collaboration with the SCRAPs contributes to this and to the development of sustainable models which improve recyclability and traceability".
Commitments include:
ASEGRE's participation in ENVALORA's Managers' Commission, where technical, operational and regulatory issues relating to packaging management will be addressed. The joint preparation of a Good Practices Guide for final holders, which will facilitate the correct classification, conditioning and traceability of packaging waste.
The joint promotion of technical seminars, webinars and dissemination activities, both for ASEGRE associates and interested third parties. Technical collaboration to improve the recyclability, eco-modulation and digitalization models applicable to packaging waste management.
Both organizations agree that effective cooperation between producers and managers is essential to achieve the objectives of circularity, comply with current regulations and optimize the treatment of packaging waste.
