June 13, 2024 (press release) –
Despite facing some decline in May, the first five months of 2024 saw import levels at the Port of Los Angeles remaining above the pre-pandemic peak. The temporary dip in imports is attributed to an extraordinary influx of goods a year ago due to concerns over contract negotiations between dockworkers and employers. Despite this, overall container volumes have risen by 18% compared to the same period in 2023. Concerns still exist over supply chain disruption due to increasing tensions in dockworker negotiations and escalating spot freight rates. Nonetheless, Executive Director Gene Seroka expects strong trade volumes over the summer. - Publisher: Transport Topics [Original Article](https://www.ttnews.com/articles/port-la-imports-stay-above-pre-pandemic-peak-18)
