April 9, 2025 (press release) –
TOKYO, April 9, 2025—Canon Inc. today announced that it has used the Amazon reporting tool*, letters of inquiry and/or information letters to successfully remove certain toner cartridge listings from Amazon platforms in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the United Kingdom.
The listings offered third-party laser printer toner cartridges that Canon believes infringed Canon's European Patent 3 809 207 (EP ’207). EP ’207 relates to a process cartridge detachably mountable to an image forming apparatus.
This time, Canon took actions against, among others, the listings shown in the table below.
At the time of this announcement, the product offerings listed above were no longer available on at least one of the European Amazon platforms corresponding to the countries in which EP ’207 is validated and in force.
Canon respects the intellectual property rights of others and will continue to enforce its own intellectual property rights.
