The latest in what's going on in the world of breakfast:

Cinnamon and berries lead the way with Denny's new breakfast dishes

Denny's wouldn't be Denny's if the casual restaurant chain didn't include at least some new breakfast items when debuting several new dishes on its menu. The latest limited-time breakfast offerings are the Cinnamon Sugar Pancake Puppies and the Berry Waffle Slam.

The Cinnamon Sugar Pancake Puppies feature site-sized pancake bites fried and dusted with cinnamon sugar, and served with cream cheese icing.

The Berry Waffle Slam includes two Liège-style waffles made with real butter and pearl sugar, topped with seasonal berries and caramel sauce. The Slam comes served with two eggs made to order, two bacon strips and two sausage links. Berry selection is based on seasonality.

“We’ve held nothing back in creating the ultimate sweet and savory breakfast experience,” said Chad Thompson, head of culinary innovation for the Denver-based chain of more than 600 locations. “We brought in savory pork sausage and created the new … bagel to hold even more syrup, crispy bacon, sausage and fresh-cracked eggs.”
