February 5, 2025 (press release) –
Author Hannah Nicole Maehrer to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 9AM on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025
Bryn Mawr, PA – February 5, 2025 – Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its Bryn Mawr, PA bookstore on Wednesday, February 12th. The new Barnes & Noble is located in a space it once occupied, nearly 18 years ago, at 720 W Lancaster Ave. Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. The space was most recently a Walgreens and is across from Staples.
The former Bryn Mawr Barnes & Noble store closed in June of 2007 and will officially open to the public at 9AM EST on Wednesday the 12th. Author Hannah Nicole Maehrer will be cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including her latest, Apprentice to the Villain. This latest release is book two in the popular Assistant and the Villain Series, with a third volume expected later this year.
The bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller. The bookstore will also house an updated B&N Café.
“As we open new bookstores across the country it is especially gratifying to come back to communities we once served,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “Even more so here, where we not only return to Bryn Mawr, but to the exact address we once proudly occupied. This new Bryn Mawr Barnes & Noble is a testament to readers’ ongoing desire for bookstores as a place of discovery and community, and we are very pleased to be back.”
Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.
The Bryn Mawr location is one of five new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in February, alongside new stores in New York, Ohio, Virginia, and Washington. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
“I am honored to play a part in bringing Barnes & Noble back to the Bryn Mawr community,” said Store Manager Len Benefico, Barnes & Noble Bookseller of thirty years. “The process of transforming an empty building into bookstore is a remarkable experience that takes dedication and teamwork, and this team can’t wait to welcome readers into their new Bryn Mawr Barnes & Noble.”
