March 7, 2025 (press release) –

In the world of labelling, where precision and innovation define success, the contributions of women have often been overlooked. But at Asteria, we see things differently. Talent, expertise, and leadership should never be defined by gender.

International Women’s Day is a moment to acknowledge progress, confront the barriers that still exist, and champion the women shaping industries like ours.

To honour this occasion, we turn the spotlight on Triin Anette Kaasik, CEO of Data Print in Estonia—a leader who embodies resilience, expertise, and inspiration. With over 20 years in printing, she has seen how the industry has evolved and what still needs to change. She shares her thoughts on this day, her journey, and the lessons she has learnt along the way.

Triin Anette Kaasik – CEO Data Print

1- What makes International Women’s Day special in Estonia?

“In Estonia, International Women’s Day carries historical significance. During previous times, it was even a public holiday, and it is still widely recognised today. People celebrate by giving flowers and showing appreciation, and at Data Print, our male colleagues continue this tradition. But beyond that, it is about acknowledging the vital role of women in business, government, and academia. Estonia has come a long way and while there’s still work to do, we continue to push forward.”

2- What does International Women’s Day mean to you personally?

“For me, it is a day filled with positivity—kind words, flowers, cake, and reflection on the progress we’ve made. In Estonia, gender equality is highly valued, but there are still barriers to break to combat the male-centred society. On this day, the media places a strong focus on women’s achievements, filling coverage with stories that might not receive the same attention throughout the year. It serves as a reminder that every step forward matters. It’s a chance to celebrate how far we’ve come while recognising that the journey is not over.”

3- What challenges have you faced in your career as a woman?

“When I first entered the industry, I was often the only woman in the room. But instead of seeing it as a disadvantage, I viewed it as an opportunity. Being different made it easier to capture attention, build connections, and stand out. The real challenge was not my gender—it was proving that I had the knowledge, expertise, and leadership skills to succeed. Today, I am proud to see more women stepping into leadership roles, and I hope to see even more in the future.”

4- How do you balance work-life responsibilities with family?

“That is the question always asked of women but rarely of men, isn’t it?” she laughs. “The truth is, balancing career and family is a challenge for everyone. I have three children who are grown up now, but when they were younger, I was incredibly fortunate to have the support of my husband and extended family. My parents, siblings, and grandparents all played a role in helping with childcare. It really does take a village, and I could not have done it without them.”

5- What advice would you give to young women starting their careers in the printing industry?

“The labelling industry is fast-paced and evolving, offering exciting opportunities for those willing to learn and adapt. My biggest advice? Study hard—develop strong technical, business, and soft skills. Be curious, stay passionate about your work, and never be afraid to take up space in a room. The industry may still be male-dominated in some areas, but that’s changing. There is room for innovation, leadership, and fresh perspectives—so don’t hesitate to make your mark.”
