Tik Tok star and Asda colleague Laura Fulgenzi from Asda’s Gosforth store featured on Asda’s Instagram channel recently, in a post dedicated to the Beetlejuice phenomenon following the much-anticipated sequel – the reel has already racked up over 199,000 views plus 176,000 reach.

In Asda’s latest Instagram reel she’s asked: “excuse me, where is the juice?” before she directs the customer to the fridge and offers orange, apple or pomegranate juice before exclaiming – “we’ve also got Beetlejuice!” and reveals herself dressed up as the man himself before dancing in the aisles and checking out the retailer’s vast Halloween range, which includes a selection of Beetlejuice products. The video can be viewed here.

Comments on the video include: “Oh my god, I sensed Beetlejuice was coming but I didn’t expect that! 😂😂😂,” another said: “This is fantastic!!!!” and “Your posts are what social media is supposed to be about, showcasing talent & putting a smile on people’s faces 👍.” Others echoed the positive sentiment with Laura taking the time to reply to comments.

The video later shared to Laura’s own TikTok has gone crazy too, with 129.1k views at the time of writing.

Beetlejuice has brought a sense of cultural nostalgia to Halloween 2024. With many Millennials having watched the original as children in the late ‘80s, the new film is an opportunity for a Halloween revival, both re-engaging the audience who indulged in the original, as well as carving out a new classic for younger audiences.

According to Asda’s recent study, 45% of Brits have already seen or are planning to see the film and this is inevitably cascading into this year’s trending costumes. Move over Harley Quinn, Wednesday Adams and Barbie, because this year, 16% of Halloween-celebrating Brits will dress as the iconic Beetlejuice, rising to over a third of Gen Z (35%).

Searches containing ‘Beetlejuice’ more than tripled on George.com between August and September 2024 (+235%).

The multi-generational appeal of Beetlejuice this year is reflected in Asda’s themed offering which includes fashion, homeware and party pieces. Black and white pinstripes will drive wider Halloween fashion and accessories, and the George Halloween range includes Beetlejuice party bundle, Beetlejuice guest towels, Beetlejuice pet outfit, Beetlejuice tote bag, Beetlejuice mug and Beetlejuice fashion – amongst many other products.
