May 6, 2025 (press release) –

Amplify is where print and packaging designers, commercial printers, print finishers, binders, mailers and creatives come together with the equipment and suppliers to those industries. Join us for an immersive three-day experience and gain the inspiration, knowledge and network to amplify your business.

Amplify, the Print Finishing & Embellishment Event, a collaborative venture of WhatTheyThink and the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA), will include an exhibition and educational program spotlighting the entire print finishing and embellishment value chain. The three-day experience will take place June 10-12, 2025, in Rosemont (Chicago), IL, at the Rosemont Convention Center.

As a part of the Amplify Print programming, a comprehensive Sustainability Track will occur on the final morning of Amplify, June 12th. Join Jules Van Sant, Two Sides North America, for her presentation on the 2025 Sustainability and Consumer Perception: Paper, Packaging & Print - Trends & Truths. Discover the latest findings from the upcoming 2025 Two Sides North America Trend Tracker Report, which will be released in June. Conducted biannually, the report explores evolving consumer attitudes toward paper, sustainability and the influence of marketing and greenwashing on buying decisions. Grounded in historical research, it examines how industry stakeholders — from local players to global producers — can navigate the sustainability narrative with facts. Attendees will gain up-to-date, actionable insights to inform conversations, shape marketing language and advocate for paper’s role in a sustainable future.

Also included will be a panel discussion - The Impact on Sustainability on Print Packaging Today and Into the Future (Panel: Paul Nowak, executive director, GreenBlue; Dr. Nikola Juhasz, global technical director for sustainability, Sun Chemical). Join this interactive conversation on the landscape of sustainability within the print packaging industry, including labels, cartons and other packaging materials. Learn about GreenBlue and its current initiatives that include The Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) and How2Rycle, and how these projects will impact the print packaging arena. Also, learn about sustainability issues and initiatives within TLMI and its current goals and future initiatives as they relate to the tag and label industry. Questions and answers will be encouraged on this important subject concerning labels, folding cartons and the entire packaging industry.

Wrapping up will be an additional panel discussion - What Are Brands and Customers Asking as it Pertains to Embellishments and Sustainability? (Jeff Peterson, FSEA; Scott Tacosik, Kurz; Seth Levenstein, ITW ShineMark). This panel will discuss questions that customers (brands and Print Service Providers – PSPs) are asking about sustainability and embellishments. Are brands concerned with metallics and recyclability? How are printers/finishers and suppliers to the industry handling the questions on sustainability and embellishments? The discussion will include details on current testing and studies commissioned by the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) on the repulpability and recycling of fiber-based materials with transfer metallic decoration, including its newest study confirming that metallic decorated paper/board currently is being recycled by Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and included in the recycling stream.
