LOS ANGELES , November 14, 2022 (Industry Intelligence Inc.) –

Amazon is expanding its Amazon One palm-recognition technology to 16 Whole Foods locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the National Association of Convenience Stores reported on Nov. 14, citing the Dallas Morning News. Whole Foods stores in Irving and Highland Village will be the first to implement the palm scanners, then the technology will be rolled out to remaining locations in the coming weeks.

The news of Amazon One spreading to Texas comes just three months after Amazon promised to bring the technology to over 65 Whole Foods locations in California. These new locations join the approximately 160 brick-and-mortar locations under the Amazon umbrella that offer palm-scanning capabilities.

As Amazon continues its tech-forward approach to make the grocery shopping experience quicker and easier, managing director for the retail consulting firm Strategic Resource Group, Burt P. Flickinger III, says consumers’ buying habits have been altered as a result.

In a Daily News article about Amazon One, he said, “45% to 46% of consumers are shopping less at conventional grocery stores, and they’re typically buying more products because now they have more time.”
