LOS ANGELES , July 14, 2023 (press release) –

Abu Dhabi's Environment Agency has launched a bottle-return scheme to recycle 20 million single-use plastic bottles every year.

The project includes the placement of about 70 reverse vending machines and 26 smart bins in high-traffic locations throughout the city, such as airports, arenas, malls and schools.

The initiative is part of the agency’s wider Mission to Zero project, which last year eliminated 172 million plastic bags from circulation in Abu Dhabi.
