NYC ANNOUNCES NEW WEBSITE OFFERING NUTRITIONAL DATA ON 66 CHAIN RESTAURANT MENUS
New York City's Health Department is announcing a new website where consumers can see nutritional data for 66 chain restaurants.
The site called MenuStat contains information provided by the restaurants. Users can search by chain or by food category such as pizza or sandwiches.
City Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said the site provides easy-to-use tools for comparisons and analysis.
Farley announced the new website Thursday at the Obesity Society's annual scientific meeting in Atlanta.
He said it is designed to be used by researchers and health organizations as well as by consumers.
MenuStat was created by the city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene with funding from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
