NASHVILLE, Tennessee , September 27, 2013 (press release) – LP Building Products has extended its product offerings into Denmark through SmartWood, who has begun stocking the LP SolidStart EWP product line. SmartWood, which officially opened its doors in July, will be introducing laminated strand lumber (LSL) to the Danish construction industry.

“In recent years, Denmark has shifted from building with traditional timber towards engineered wood products such as I-joists and laminated veneer lumber (LVL). Laminated strand lumber—LSL—is the natural next step as its technical properties fit perfectly with the Danish construction industry,” said Henrik Hviid Pedersen, SmartWood’s technical director.

“LP SolidStart LSL offers a host of advantages over traditional timber, including better fastener connections, straightness and increased design flexibility,” explained Al Huber, international sales manager for LP Building Products. “We’re thrilled to be working with SmartWood as they bring this product into the Danish market.”

Founded by Pedersen and Kaare Simonsen, SmartWood A/S is a supplier of engineered wood products and will be stocking LP SolidStart LSL, LVL and I-Joist products. SmartWood focuses on traditional wooden frames as well as more technical constructions, such as wooden frames with rigid connections.
