About 12.6 million tons of grain reportedly harvested in Kazakhstan from 65% of fields thus far in 2013 as of Sept. 21, agriculture minister says; average productivity at 12.2 cwt./hectare

September 23, 2013 () – Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Asyljan Mamytbekov said during the briefing that 12.6 million tons of grain have been harvested in Kazakhstan by September 21, the Ministry's press service reported.

According to him, the grain has been harvested from 65% of fields, and the average productivity was 12.2 quintals per hectare, which is 3.6 tons per hectare bigger than in 2012. For today summer wheat and barley harvesting is completed in Jambyl, Kyzylorda, and Southern Kazakhstan regions. In Akmola, Kostanai, and Northern Kazakhstan regions 65% of crop harvesting is completed.

According to the Agency for Statistics of Kazakhstan, total area of all crops is 21.5 million hectares in 2013, 15.8 million hectares of which are crops and 13.1 million hectares of wheat.
