Romania harvested 7.3 million tonnes of wheat and rye in 2013, posting an eight-year record, the agriculture ministry said on Friday.
In 2012, Romania harvested 5.3 million tonnes of wheat and rye, the ministry said in a statement.
The average wheat/rye yield per hectare increased to 3.5 tonnes from total of 2.1 million sown hectares compared to 2.7 tonnes a year earlier.
The barley harvest this summer totalled 1.5 million tonnes, while the oats and rapeseed crops amounted to 362,000 tonnes and 645,000 tonnes, respectively.
