NOTTINGHAM, England , December 6, 2012 (press release) – Chesapeake Leicester is hosting a number of two-day seminars which is the first step to roll-out the PantoneLIVE™ colour management system to several major Chesapeake locations. The event, attended by representatives from Chesapeake sites in England, France, Germany, Ireland, Poland and Scotland, will support the introduction of this new revolutionary colour matching system at these plants during 2013.

Chesapeake Leicester helped to pioneer the system in partnership with the leading colour specialists X-Rite, Pantone and Esko. PantoneLIVE™ accurately controls brand colours throughout the supply chain and this improved colour control is both measurable and dramatic.

Jon Drennan, operations director at Chesapeake’s Leicester, said, “These events will give us the opportunity to share what we have learnt over the past 18 months and explain the mutual benefits that both we and our customers are now experiencing. Nearly all our customers are using PantoneLIVE™ and we have dramatically reduced our ink inventory as a result and, more importantly, the number of colour related print issues we previously experienced. Chesapeake’s largest operations will adopt the system next year and we expect to see the same advantages.”

Chesapeake Leicester has digitised all the colours it uses, allowing it to produce a digital proof that accurately represents how the colour will be reproduced on press. These digital proofs allow a design to be visualised with a customer, which speeds up the overall approval process. Drennan went on to say, “Moving to a digitised palette, instead of the analog format, will allow Chesapeake to reduce its ink inventory by some 60% once this process is complete. This offers an attractive return on our investment and all the delegates that attended the first event are excited about the prospect of introducing the PantoneLIVE™ system to their sites. This commitment emphasises our belief to offer our customers the very best production techniques and systems.”

The benefits to both a printer and brand owner are obvious as any inconsistency in colour can provide an opportunity for counterfeiters. PantoneLIVE™ allows brand owners and printers to manage and maintain their colour assets. Digitising the colour palette will allow colour assets to be shared and communicated accurately. Colours that are true to the brand are tougher to copy and provide reassurance for consumers.
