Pennsylvania Senate passes bill that would allow residents to have out-of-state wine purchases shipped directly to their homes; House expected to block the measure

LOS ANGELES , March 29, 2012 (Industry Intelligence) – The Pennsylvania Senate passed a bill that would allow residents to have out-of-state wine purchases shipped directly to their homes, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported March 29.

However, the House is expected to block the measure because its Majority Leader, Mike Turzai, wants such a measure to be part of his privatization bill.

Under the bill, wineries would be required to collect and remit the state's 6% sales tax, as well as the 18% tax that the Liquor Control Board charges at its stores.
