During the spring of 2012, Wenner Media Inc. is planning to unveil a new website for its magazine, “Men’s Journal,” Adweek reported Feb. 1.
Unlike many other similar web sites that mirror their print counterparts, the “Men’s Journal” site will focus on advice and product reviews.
“We’re going to do is extend what the magazine does so well, and that is expertise in men’s lifestyle and adventure,” said Wenner’s head of digital content, Bill Crandall, “The core of the website is going to be recommending the best things to do, the best things to see, and the best things to experience for men.”
Although Crandall said that it had not yet been decided whether the “Men’s Journal” site will be used to sell merchandise, he noted that the site would only recommend products that had been tested by the editorial team.
Crandall added that the site would feature original content rather than lift material directly from the magazine.
A new team of Web-specific editors and producers will be hired for the site, and they will work with the magazine’s existing staff, Crandall said.
