Europe’s largest wood pallet producer, Faber Halbertsma Group (FHG), says it has strengthened its position in the European market by acquiring German pallet pool PAKi Logistics.
FHG has 17 subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and the U.K. that produce, hire, repair and trade pallets. The group has nine factories producing around 18 million wooden pallets annually, U.K. timber industry magazine TTJ reported on Jan. 27.
PAKi, which has annual sales of €40 million, organizes 10,000 pooling stations and more than two million pallets, boxes and plastic load carriers in Europe.
Faber's CEO Ingrid Faber said the acquisition of PAKi would expand Faber's network in the European market and add to the company's international pooling activities.
Christian Kühnhold, CEO of PAKi Logistics, which will now be rebranded FHG PAKi, said his company's products and services complement those offered by FHG, putting the enlarged group in a stronger position.
The acquisition will increase FHG's annual sales to €300 million and its workforce to 800 employees.
