Mitsubishi Chemical considers skipping maintenance on its No. 2 cracker at its Kashima, Japan, complex in 2012 if government grants permission; cracker has ethylene capacity of 453,000 tonnes/year

– Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. may not put its No. 2 naphtha cracker at its Kashima, Japan, complex into turnaround in 2012 if the government allows the company to forgo maintenance, Reuters reported Jan. 23, citing a company spokesman.
The No. 2 cracker has a capacity of 453,000 tonnes of ethylene per year, Reuters noted.
The Tokyo-based company is planning to take its No. 1 cracker at the complex offline from May 10 to July 14 for maintenance. The No. 1 cracker has a capacity of 375,000 tonnes/year, Reuters reported.
