A study has found that mothers who consume low-fat yogurts during pregnancy may give birth to children with a higher risk of developing asthma, hay fever and other allergies, DairyReporter.com reported Oct. 21.
The study’s scientists examined maternal milk and dairy intake during pregnancy, and monitored the prevalence of asthma and allergic rhinitis for kids at age 7. The research showed that 5.9% of those kids had lifetime asthma and 4.2% had current asthma.
The study also stated that women who ate low-fat yogurt with fruit once a day were 1.6 times more likely to have children with asthma by age 7.
