TUMWATER, Wash. , October 25, 2005 () – A sawmill worker was fatally injured here Friday and state labor officials were investigating.

The victim was not immediately identified, said state Department of Labor and Industries spokeswoman Elaine Fischer.

The mill is owned by TreeSource Industries Inc., Fischer said, adding, "We can't comment at all on what we're seeing at the investigation scene."

Bob Lockwood, the company's president, did not return messages seeking comment Friday.

The accident reportedly happened at 5:15 a.m. Friday, Fischer said. Coroner's deputies and state investigators were still on the scene Friday evening.

The man was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital, where he died shortly before noon, Fischer said.
