LOS ANGELES , August 30, 2013 () – CVS Caremark Corp. will reduce the ExtraCare portion of customers’ paper receipts by 25% over the coming weeks, the Woonsocket, Rhode Island-based company announced on Friday, reported the Orlando Sentinel on Aug. 27.

The move came two days after an article by the Huffington Post reported the @CVS_Receipt account on Twitter, which was set up to parody CVS receipts. Photos on the account showed customers with their long CVS receipts.

Some of the pictures demonstrated CVS receipts that were longer than the height of the people posing in the photos, or receipts that were feet long for purchasing just one item, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

CVS made its announcement on Facebook, saying that it would roll out its new normal-size receipts in the coming weeks. Customers will still get their savings, but coupons and rewards will be sent digitally via their ExtraCare savings card.

Company Chief Marketing Officer Rob Price said in the announcement that CVS had been “listening to you (and we’ve also seen the very creative uses for your receipts)!” reported the Orlando Sentinel.
