AUSTRALIA , July 15, 2013 () – FAMILIES' changing tastes in home cooking is proving to be a boon for whitegoods maker Electrolux.

Households are choosing better quality cookers when they replace their appliance, renovate the kitchen or build a new home, Electrolux general manager Edward Lawley said.

The trend was revealed by shopfloor sales staff from major retailers who tour the Dudley Park factory.

``Their feedback is that there's a lot more interest in cooking and staying home with the family,'' Mr Lawley said. ``In homes all over Australia people are cooking beautiful meals.''

Electrolux recently invested $4 million to ceate an assembly line to build the wide - 90cm - ovens which have become increasingly popular.

Skilled workers such as Christine Freebairn work on the line and the ovens have grabbed more than 30 per cent of the 90cm market.

Australian Industry Group SA director Stephen Myatt said Electrolux was an ``innovative manufacturer, continually investing in engineering and design to underpin new products and, more recently, in robotics''.
