US restaurant same-store sales fall 1.1% in December, mainly due to New Year's Eve and New Year's Day falling into fiscal 2013, according to report

LOS ANGELES , January 17, 2013 () – According to Black Box Intelligence, a financial performance benchmarking company, U.S. restaurnt same-store sales fell 1.1% in December, Nation's Restaurant News reported Jan. 16

The report stated that from Dec. 1-16, same-store sales fell 1.5% while sales rose 1.7% during the remainder of the month. Same-store traffic fell 3.7%.

The results were mainly influenced by New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day falling into fiscal 2013, which had a negative impact on December, the report stated.
