Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark today announced new appointments to his executive team managing operations of the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Kyle Blum was appointed Deputy Supervisor for State Uplands. He was previously Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Public Lands.
Aaron Everett was appointed Deputy Supervisor for Forest Practices and Federal Relations. He also will continue to serve as Washington State Forester, a position he has held since December 2010.
“Kyle and Aaron enter their new positions with an excellent appreciation of DNR’s mission and responsibilities, and with outstanding records of accomplishment,” Goldmark said. “These appointments will prepare us for continued success in the months and years to come for the people of Washington and the trust lands DNR manages for them,” Goldmark said.
DNR manages state trust lands
Administered by Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark, DNR manages more than 5.6 million acres of state-owned lands. Of these, more than half are state trust lands in forest, agriculture, wind energy and other production to earn income to support the state’s public schools, universities, prisons, and other institutions. In addition to revenue, DNR manages these lands to provide habitat for native fish and wildlife, clean water, outdoor recreation, and other public benefits.
