In a transaction involving two German wine packaging companies, Phillip Schneider GmbH and Co. has acquired Pfefferkron and Co. GmbH, reported Plastics News on March 21.

Ebernburg-based Schneider bought 100% of the outstanding shares of Pfefferkron, an injection molder that makes wine and champagne bottle closures and is known for its plastic champagne corks and caps.

Pfefferkron, which is based in Simmern, also manufactures translucent polystyrene cups, bottle openers and pourers.

Schneider makes such wine and champagne packaging items as wire hoods, capsules, screw caps and Secco Cords, which are natural fiber closures used for sparkling wines, vinegar and oils. It also manufactures machinery and shipping trays, crates and cartons, Plastics News reported.
