LOS ANGELES , March 25, 2012 () – At the Research Chefs Association’s 12th annual conference and exposition, Sloan Trends Inc. President Liz Sloan said that restaurant chain operators will see the largest amount of growth from Hispanics, people over age 55, and children under the age of 11, Nation’s Restaurant News reported March 23.

Sloan added that the per-capita spending of these three demographic groups is increasing, and that they have the largest growth potential in terms of foodservice sales.

Although people ages 18 to 24 spend the largest percentage of their income on foodservice out of any demographic group, the size of this demographic group is shrinking, Sloan noted.

The three most popular ethnic cuisines among younger consumers are Italian, Spanish and Thai, Sloan added.
