BARCELONA, Spain , March 22, 2012 (press release) – HP today announced that the first HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press for folding cartons has been installed at Leupold, Germany, together with an Inline-Priming-unit and a fully integrated post-processing workflow.

Leupold, headquartered in Schwabach, Germany, is one of the leading manufacturers of folding cartons, blister cards and sales displays. As a full-service provider, the company supplies well-known customers within the healthcare, cosmetics, multimedia and food industries. In addition to the HP Indigo press, Leupold has installed an ABG Digicon 2 with an integrated Kama Pro Cut and creasing solution, to enable in-house finishing.

"From the toothbrush box to high-end confectionary packaging - the HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press can produce everything inline and with only one person running the machine," said Bernd Aßmann, director at Leupold. "With this new solution, we can now increase our flexibility even more and we are able to deliver cartons on demand within only 48 hours and with no additional set-up costs."

The HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press, which was launched at Labelexpo 2011, is designed for the special demands of label and package printing in order to achieve a high level of flexibility, efficiency and profitability.

The new Inline-Priming-unit (ILP unit) allows HP Indigo customers to print on almost all carton types and makes the support of last-minute jobs easier and quicker than ever(1).

Leupold considers itself to be a driver of innovations within the industry. The partnership with HP facilitates this objective: "We have always invested in the latest technology. Our company wants to focus more on the digital market in the future. We selected the WS6600 Digital Press as our company's first digital printing press as we believe the printing quality is no different to offset," Aßmann continued.

Short- and middle-runs can now be offered as well as long run offset printing jobs, which allows Leupold to produce an extended range of products in a fast and cost effective way.

"The investment in the HP Indigo machine is a strategic move for us, and we have already benefited from it. The future of our business is digital print, and the HP Indigo WS6600 is currently the technology leader in the digital packaging print industry."
