New York's trout sales up 4% year-over-year to US$419,000 in 2011, USDA says

– The U.S. Department of Agriculture says New York trout producers sold $419,000 worth of fish in 2011, up 4 percent from 2010.
Nationwide, trout growers produced $76.6 million worth of fish in 2011, up 7 percent from 2010. Idaho accounted for half the value of fish sold.
The major sales outlets for 6-to-12-inch trout was for recreational stocking. For trout 12 inches or longer, about half were sold to processors.
Trout distributed by state and federal hatcheries for restoration, conservation and recreation included about 8 million 12-inch or longer fish, 59 million 6-to-12-inch fish, and 74 million 1-to-6-inch fish. The estimated value of trout distributed was $100 million, down 4 percent from 2010.
