M-real board of directors to propose business name change to Metsä Board Corp. to strengthen identity as paperboard producer

ESPOO, Finland , February 9, 2012 (press release) – M-real Corporation’s Board of Directors proposes to the Annual General Meeting to be convened on 28 March 2012 that the company’s business name is changed to Metsä Board Corporation.

The new name and identity reflects a company that is according to its strategy strongly focused on high-quality ecological paperboards, and is innovative, responsible and stronger than before. Metsä Board’s products are at the very top of their fields and they create sustainable wellbeing for people’s everyday life.

The name of Metsäliitto Group, of which M-real is a part of, is changed to Metsä Group.

“We have during the recent years done a very determined work to transform from a paper company to a profitable paperboard company. Our structural transformation is at a stage where we want to communicate it also through the company name. As a part of the Metsä Group’s new common identity we are able to strengthen our visibility in the market,” says CEO Mikko Helander.
