Police release names of victims in fatal shooting at McBride Lumber in Star, North Carolina; gunman believed to be disgruntled employee dies from self-inflicted shotgun wound

LOS ANGELES , January 16, 2012 (Industry Intelligence) – The man who shot three fellow employees dead at McBride Lumber in Star, North Carolina, before going home and turning the gun on himself, has died from his wound, the Chicago Tribune reported on Jan. 13.

In an emailed statement, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Ronald Dean Davis, 50, died at about 6 a.m. on Saturday at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

Police said Davis was apparently targeting specific employees when he opened fire at McBride Lumber in Star at about 6 a.m. on Friday. He killed three people and badly wounded a fourth.

Davis, who lived about a mile north of the lumber company, then returned home and shot himself in the head, police said. He was found slumped on his couch by police officers, who also found a six-page handwritten note at the scene.

The names of two of the dead were released on Sunday by Montgomery County Sheriff Dempsey Owens as Daniel Thomas Davis, 32, of Star and Jose Galdino Lopez Izquierdo, 25, of Asheboro. The injured victim is Florentino Tellez Aparicio, 21, according to a report by The Associated Press.
