LOS ANGELES , January 3, 2012 () – The Kum & Go Inc. convenience store chain is set to expand into the Pikes Peak region, Colorado, after purchasing of two sites in Colorado Springs from the Nor’wood Development Group, The Pueblo Chieftain reported on Dec. 31.

Kum & Go purchased the two sites, one of which is located southeast of Woodmen Road and Dureya Drive near Powers Boulevard while the other is located in Nor’wood’s InterQuest Marketplace, for $1.1 million and $1.2 million, respectively.

Fred Veitch, Vice President at the Nor’wood said that he expects the Kum & Go stores to be very competitive: “They have a larger convenience store than what you typically find with a greater variety of product. Their gas pump design is a little bit more spacious, a little bit nicer, a little more upscale than some of the competitors’ offerings. I think the customers will like it."

According to Kum & Go’s website, it operates 400 stores in 11 U.S. states. Only 10 Kum & Go stores are located in Colorado, most of which are concentrated in the Denver metropolitan area or in rural parts of northern Colorado.
