LOS ANGELES , November 21, 2011 () – Tea sales have increased recently at both quick-service and fast-casual restaurants in the U.S. as more units offer sweet tea and traditional coffee houses are expanding their tea offerings, QSR Magazine reported Nov. 21.

According to the Tea Association of the USA, foodservice tea sales have been rising 3% to 5% annually in recent years. Also, according to research firm Mintel, tea accounted for 15.2% of restaurant beverage menu items during the fourth quarter of 2010. That makes it the third most-available type of nonalcoholic beverages at eateries.

The number of tea beverages offered at restaurants grew 11.2% from 2008 to 2010.
