LOS ANGELES , September 30, 2011 () – The town of Dubreuilville has accused the provincial government of wiping out the most forest dependent community in Ontario with misguided and flawed policies, according to a statement by the town featured in the Wawa News.

The province's forests ministry turned down Dubreuil Forest Products' application for a wood supply in June, leading the township to issue a press release that said the town would die without its sawmill.

In the statement, Dubreuilville's Mayor Louise Perrier said the Liberal government had taken away the traditional wood supplies for the town's sawmill and abandoned the community, instead of helping it through tough times.

Perrier accused the town's MPP Mike Brown of failing to returned any calls and said he had not returned to the community since June, when local officials asked him to take a messaage to the McGuinty government to resolve the wood supply issue.

But the town says Algoma-Manitoulin Progressive Conservative Candidate Joe Chapman indicated during a recent visit that he will ensure that the Dubreuilville sawmill gets back its traditional wood supply if he is elected, and has extended the same offer to the town of Wawa.

Chapman said that under a Tim Hudak PC government, communities such as Wawa and Dubreuilville would be given access to their traditional wood supplies.

He added: "A government's job should not be to pit one community against another and that's what the McGuinty Liberal government has done through this wood supply process."

Chapman said Dubreuilville and Wawa were just two of the many communities across Northern Ontario that had been devastated by the McGuinty Liberals' mismanagement of the forest sector.

He added: "I have no confidence that after four years of waste and mismanagement that the McGuinty Government will start listening to their constituents - only a Tim Hudak PC government will do that."
