BASF today announced that Gregory E. Pflum has been named Vice President and General Manager of its Wyandotte, Michigan site. Pflum succeeds J.D. Purvis who retired on August 31, after 38 years of service with the company.
Pflum comes to BASF through its recent acquisition of Cognis, where he served as Vice President of Nutrition & Health for its North American operations since 2009. Pflum has also held positions as Vice President of Supply Chain and Chief Administration Officer, Director of Supply Chain, and various manufacturing management roles at Cognis, Henkel and Quantum Chemicals.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Pflum graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations Management from the University of Cincinnati and is a Certified Supply Chain Professional.
BASF’s Wyandotte site spans more than 2,100 acres and hosts multiple business groups, functions and manufacturing plants. The site employs about 1,140 full-time and contract employees and is located at 1609 Biddle Avenue.
