Railroad Norfolk Southern Corp. spent $1.8 million in the second quarter to lobby on Amtrak finding, high speed rail and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
That's down from the nearly $2.1 million it spent in the first quarter and up from the $1.7 million it spent in the second quarter of last year.
The Norfolk, Va.-based company also lobbied on legislation involving national infrastructure investment grants, energy taxes, rail competition and safety.
Besides Congress, Norfolk Southern lobbied the Department of Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration in the April-June period.
