Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab (Botnia) today added to plans to increase the June 1 list price in Europe of northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp by US$30 per tonne, to $1,040/tonne.
Two other major NBSK producers have already stated this plan, led by Södra Cell AB in Sweden on May 6. Mercer International Inc. followed on May 10.
There have been no June 1 softwood kraft pulp price announcements for other markets, nor have there been hardwood kraft pulp price announcements for any market.
Botnia has mills in Joutseno, Kemi, Rauma and Äänekoski, Finland, with a combined annual production capacity of 2.4 million tonnes/year of Elemental Chlorine Free (EFC) bleached pulp. Including the pulps of its principal clients, Botnia’s annual sales reach 3.3 million tonnes/year, according to the company website.
