Pergo, a subsidiary of the MDAX listed Pfleiderer AG (ISIN DE0006764749), has been nominated for the Danish “Environmental Award.” The Swedish company’s complete range of laminate flooring products bears the Scandinavian eco label “Nordic Swan.” This official seal of quality was introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers and guarantees that raw materials used are from sustainable forestry. That is why last year the Danish architect group Presens chose a Pergo floor in “Tile white” for the World Climate Summit in Copenhagen.
The environmental commitment of the leading manufacturer of multilayer HPL laminate flooring is acknowledged: the Swedish company, which is regarded as the inventor and innovative developer of laminate flooring, was nominated for the environmental award this year. The award was brought to life by TUN Byg, Scandinavia’s largest trade fair for the construction industry, and is presented by the Danish organizer and the industrial association TUN to companies for their outstanding performances in the sector of environmental protection. The winner will receive the award at the trade fair TUN Byg 2010, which will be held from 16 to 19 March in Fredericia, Denmark.
“Nordic Swan” – A guarantee for environmentally friendly products
Pergo was the first laminate manufacturer to receive the Scandinavian environmental seal “Nordic Swan.” In the meantime the laminate flooring pioneer’s entire range of products bears this seal of quality. The “Nordic Swan” is reliable proof of the environmental quality of Pergo floors and guarantees that the wood used is from sustainable forestry. At Pergo, protecting natural resources plays a major role. For example, the Swedish company uses woods chips for manufacturing its products. Pergo floors are up to 80 percent made of this wood processing industry by-product. Besides that the company only uses pine and spruce.
The “Nordic Swan”-eco label also puts high ecological demands on the entire manufacturing process. From the production in Trelleborg, Sweden to the choice of packaging materials down to transportation – the effects of the product on the environment are considered and evaluated as a whole. With the “Nordic Swan” eco label Pergo lives up to its environmental responsibility and at the same time offers retail and end customers a practical orientation for their purchasing decision.
