June 4, 2024 (press release) –

The Department of Health and Human Services June 4 announced the addition of 10 states into its Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Medicaid Demonstration Program, which provides states with sustainable funding to help them expand access to mental health and substance use services. Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Rhode Island and Vermont were added to the program, joining eight other states. CCBHCs must ensure access to a comprehensive range of services that provide care coordination when needed and incorporate evidence-based practices in addition to support based on a community needs assessment, which includes crisis services that are available 24/7. CCBHCs are also required to provide routine outpatient care within 10 business days.
