August 8, 2024 (press release) –

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and FBI today issued an updated advisory on the BlackSuit ransomware group, providing information on historically observed tactics, techniques, and procedures and indicators of compromise associated with the group. The FBI identified the group's activity last month. BlackSuit's cyberattacks have impacted health care and other industries.

“Since first being identified last year, the BlackSuit ransomware gang continues to be a high-priority threat to U.S. health care,” said John Riggi, AHA’s national advisor for cybersecurity and risk. “The Russian-speaking BlackSuit gang, a derivative of the notorious and dangerous ‘Conti’ ransomware gang, has been involved in numerous attacks against health care organizations resulting in serious disruption to patient care, posing a risk to patient safety. In April, BlackSuit claimed responsibility for the attack against blood plasma collection organization Octapharma, which resulted in the temporary closure of almost 200 blood plasma collection centers across the U.S. The identified BlackSuit indicators of compromise and defensive measures should be promptly entered into network defensive and threat-hunting tools. Continued prioritization of ransomware preparedness, resiliency and recovery capabilities remains a necessity as we see an increase in attacks against hospitals and third-party mission-critical services and supply chains, such as blood suppliers. It is recommended that business and clinical continuity procedures be developed and implemented for all internal and external mission and life critical technology, services and supplies to sustain a loss of those services and supplies for 30 days or longer.”
